would be useful option to stop putting friend online/offline notices on the game log, it takes up so much space on the game log it's annoying.

I understand that some people (with few friends) like this, but it's very annoying with 100+ friends. Please make a button for this option in the Preferences, so we can turn it off. Thanks.

I agree.. the list of friends online/offline is really annoying, especially when I want to see the previous moves in the game.

I Don not agree. It like to see when a friend is online. However, it should be possible to switch it off for yourself, like in whatsapp. Then you are not visible for friends nor are you able to see their onloine status.

NOTHING should go in the game log except game log messages. In addition to login/logout messages, I also get messages from alpha game rooms, which is very annoying.

Agreed, I rarely care if someone is online as I play all my games turn based so even if we DO play regularly, I can just send them an invite for when they're actually on.

Having said that, it doesn't really bother me too much, but when it does get too much like others have said it can block up the game log, I just refresh the game page and this clears all online statuses from the log.

I don't care if people see me come online or now, but I don't want to see them. It clogs the move chat. Please add an option to hide it.

I agree, there should only be a list of previous moves in the log. At least make this option available. How could it be "too costly" to remove something from the interface? I can't track previous moves with all these superfluous updates in the way

A quick tip to "fix" this.

On the preferences > advanced tab ( boardgamearena.com/preferences?section=advanced ), you can add your own custom CSS.
Adding the following will hide these player notifications:

.notif_playerstatus {
display:none!important;
}

Only downside is that these bug-pages won't work when you have custom CSS ... so you have to clear it if you want to add / reply to a bug.

I do wonder if the devs understand that we're not objecting to the information being available, but rather to the information being incorporated into our game logs. Yes, we want to be able to check if someone is on/offline. and yes, we especially want to know if someone in an active game has logged out/having connection issues.
But, filling the log with info about people that aren't part of our active game is preventing the log from being easily accessible.

I can see the value of these notifications for seeing if a player disconnects during a real-time game, but it's not necessary for asynchronous games and absolutely nonsensical that it shows the status of players who aren't even in the current game.

Nous sommes rendus en 2024 et toutes bonnes plateformes a bien compris qu'il était important de respecter la vie privée de ses usagers en offrant une option "NE PAS DÉRANGER"... Comment se fait-il que ce ne soit pas encore le cas de BGA ? Depuis maintenant 2018 que les utilisateurs ont émis la demande d'une telle option maintenant quasi rendue un obligé sur les réseaux en ligne !!??

I can't believe we're still here 2 years later and this option has not been implemented and I am still being getting on/off messages in my logs, like I need this kind of info. I see what friends are online by checking the Friends list near my name, what do I care that they are online/offline every 2 seconds just because the opened a BGA tab or checked their phone and switched off when they saw it's not their turn to play, or for whatever reason. Unbelievable. Did I say it? I am going to stay polite.

I call bs on this.

The usability of this is so bad it just incentivizes people to not have anybody in their friend list, I'd rather use external messaging apps to coordinate with other people than seeing 10-20 messages of someone going on and off when i'm trying to read what happened before my turn.
