However there is no draw condition or proposal implemented in the game.
If nobody forms a mill due to the game situation, in actual gameplay this is a tie, but in BGA the game must be abandoned or it will just repeat similar moves endlessly.
Also, it is impossible to surrender in moving phase even though someone already lost the game due to stone positioning.
In this case it should be able to surrender to end the game early like other abstract games.

I did some research on this when implementing the game. Essentially it seems that even top human players do not play optimally, so a stalemate (draw) effectively will never be reached. I figured that you can collectively abandon the game however if you agree a tie is appropriate.
I'll wait and see if lots of people need this feature in practice!

Well, surely it happens rarely, but what about tournament games?
I'm about to open one, but tourney games are not allowed to be abandoned.

I found however that also with not that good players (I by far am not really good in the game) can get into a stalemate or impasse position. In en.4.boardgamearena.com/ninemensmorris?table=30580418 both me and my oponnent ended up doing the same moves a few times at the end. Both of us did not see a winning plan (maybe there was one, but neither of us was risking their save positions to force it). I felt that game deserved a draw, now we abandoned it, but that doesn't do right to the fact that my opponent had 100 rating less, and as we played equally should have taken a small rating bite from me.

Enjoy!
Enjoy!

29 sep 2020 12:47 • This is not fair. On table #114658686, I reached a draw with someone having ELO of 422, while my ELO is 80. He admits it's a draw, but he won't accept draw because his rating will drop.
So we have been playing the same moves for 2 hours now. The rules are that if the same position repeats 3 times each player should be able to declare a draw. boardgamearena.com/6/ninemensmorris?table=114658686

The game is clearly draw and nobody is making blunders.
I offered draw 3 times but my opponent refused and he offers continuously to abort the game, so he doesn't lose his Elo points.
This is an unpleasant episode of unfairplay conduct, probably there isn't the draw for 50 moves rule like in chess, so we are playing for the etenity.
My opponent also takes advantage this is an arena mode match and when season 4° ends, the match will be automatically aborted and he will save his Elo points.
What can i do? I want to report his miscounduct and suggest to introduce some draw rules like in chess to avoid infinity games and unfairplay conduct of opponents.
