This bug could give a player more points than they should have. In this game the Itars recieved 1 more point than they should have because the power was then converted at the end of the game.

Theyre allowed to passive charge even after passing. You seem to believe otherwise -- could I trouble you tocite the rulebook passage that backs up your claim?

Ok I guess the part that doesn’t follow the rules is: conversions of power to credits happen at the end of the game after you pass. It should happen right at passing.

The rulebook says on page 16 under 9) Free Actions “You cannot take a free action if it is not your turn (e.g., if you already passed, during a passive action, during a different phase, etc.).”

Even if they are allowed to charge power after passing in round 6, they shouldn’t be able to convert it.

Good clarifications. Originally, no automated conversions occurred after the game ended. After overwhelming (and vehement) player feedback, we added the automation.

I'm in favor with eliminating that automation, but not for the amout of hate mail I will get for doing so. Consequently, I'll leave this as-is.

I understand the players' want for automation. But, couldn't the timing of the automation change to at the time of passing? This would follow the rules, while still having automation occur.

Yes, that would solve the problem from a technical standpoint, but probably still result in hate mail.

I'm not eager to volunteer for work that I know will bring in hate mail, but I'll open this to votes to gauge interest anyway.

Why would people have a strong opinion whether you automatically convert when they pass for the last time or at the actual end of the game? It would make no difference to the result (or if it would, it's because the current implementation would produce an inaccurate result as in this bug report). With that change, you could also remove any prompts for player X to charge power after player X has passed, which would speed up async games and resolve a few current suggestions.

According to this old thread on bgg, which includes one of the authors of Gaia Project (Helge Ostertag), charging and even converting power to VPs after the final passing and before the final scoring is allowed and intended (just not properly written in the rulebook):

Therefore, this is not a bug, but according to the rules. This bug report can be closed.
