BGA crash
BGA server has encountered its biggest problem since its launch last night. Unfortunately, we have lost the games played during the last three days. We are working on getting the site back to a completely funtionnal state. More info soon... PS: please tell us about any problem you might still encounter. EDIT (more infos): Since a few weeks, we had seen some performance issues when a lot of players were playing at the same time on BGA - and it happens more and more often (which is great, thank YOU for that!). We found the reason of this issue, and we were thinking that the fix would be simple. So we fixed the issue right away without extra precautionary measures. Unfortunately, the fix had more consequences than planned, and the website started to be unstable these past few days. Finally, 20 hours ago, it crashed completely. Of course Murphy's law always applies, and some of our security measures for backups failed at the same time. We discovered that we had no choice but to restore the whole website to its last stable state, which was from 3 days ago. We saved some important data: the forum and the documentation (wiki) are safe. However, we have lost the games and their statistics (ie: ELO points) for these 3 days. We are really sorry for that. This is the first time in BGA's history that we have lost a significant amount of data. Of course, we're going to work in order to make sure this won't happen again. As you know, we are IT workers IRL and we are using our skills to make this service feel as professional as possible with our available time and money. However, providing a popular service 24 hours a day and and 7 days a week is always a challenge with these limited means. We'd like to thank Club BGA members who help us push these limits and make this service more and more reliable (of course all memberships will be extended by 1 day because of the service unavailability). PS: when there is some downtime on BGA, we push information to our twitter feed. Cheers,
