Elfenland
For all of us, there is a theme, an atmosphere, we feel particularly attracted to. For me, the travel theme has always been a favourite. So when it's about an initiatic quest across the magical land of the Elves, I am immediately and completely under the spell! That's why I am really happy to present you with an online version of Elfenland, a game from Alan R. Moon published by Amigo, now available on Board Game Arena.Elfenland puts you in the shoes (more specifically, in the boots) of a young Elf reaching adulthood. Before being regognised and accepted as a grown-up by his people, he has to complete a very special task. During 4 months, he will need to travel the country to visit the most possible towns and discover the landscapes, the people and the customs of Elfenland: traveling is the best education to life!
So now you are off, boots on your feets and walking staff in hand, to travel plains, forests, mountains and desert through a map wonderfully illustrated by Doris Matthäus. As for means of transportation, the difficulty will be to choose: will you dare to ride dragons above the desert, giant pigs in the forest, magical clouds through narrow mountain passes, and to go like the wind through the plains on your Elfcycle? A wind of freedom whistles in your pointed ears, but do not forget to plan your travels carefully! Means of transportations are limited, and you'll need some foresight if you don't want to get stranded in the desert just a few dunes away from your goal. Of course, if it comes to this, you can still try joining a caravan to make some headway, but the slow pace of the group is gonna make you lose time over other Elves flying from town to town...
Elfenland is a movement programming and hand management game, with lots of interaction between players, as each player can use (or get blocked by) the moves planned by his opponents. We advise you to play with 3 players or more to best enjoy this eventful race through the land of the Elves!
We would like to say a big thank you to Amigo for allowing us to implement an online adaptation of this wonderful game, which was awarded the Spiel des Jahres in 1998 and whose success has been extensively confirmed since through more than 10 years of reprints! In this post, you can discover the box of the new edition expertly crafted by Amigo, which should get off the press and into shops very soon. If you didn't yet, here is a perfect occasion to add Elfenland to your collection!

Pylos
We have the pleasure to host a new game on BGA: Pylos, a game from David G. Royffe published by Gigamic !Pylos is a wonderful and beautiful abstract from the famous "Gigamic Wooden abstract series" (with Quoridor and Quarto). Needless to say it is both beautiful and tricky!
The goal of the game is to build a pyramid of balls. At your turn, you must place a ball, and you win the game if you manage to be the one to place the last ball at the top of the pyramid. Looks simple? Yes, but no: you have only 15 balls, so that the winner will be the player who manage to "save" the biggest number of balls during the play thanks to the following rules:
- Instead of placing a ball, you can move up one of your ball - if some space is available on an upper level -, or
- If you manage to have a square of 4 balls of your color, you can take back 1 or 2 balls from the pyramid.
Of course, you'll have to play to make sure YOU are taking advantage of these 2 rules and to make sure your opponent can't.
BGA would like to send a big "thank you" to Gigamic (4 games on BGA! Thanks!) and also Stanislav Stepanenko who developed this very good adaptation in the BGA Studio!
Enjoy!
Post scriptum: nobody reads PS. And it's sad, because sometimes it contains some clue for the next game on BGA: "lelya". Bing.
A new classic game soon on BGA
Which one?
Here is a first clue: "Zy6gzN".

Expedition: Northwest Passage
It is always a pleasure to host a new game on Board Game Arena, but sometimes we get the chance to be particularly proud about a game adaptation. This is the case with "Expedition: Northwest Passage", a game from Yves Tourigny published by Matagot. Why? At first, we've been 100% convinced by "NWP", which is the result of two years of work between the designer and the publisher. Then, the publisher Matagot gave us this unique possibility to have the game here a few months in advance before its official release! And finally, the online adaptation realized by Thierry Arnoux (Tirix) is really, really good
So, what about the game? NWP is a game for 2-4 players with an intermediate complexity. Each player is leading an expedition and a crew trying to discover the legendary "Northwest Passage" from the Greenland coast. To achieve this goal, you have to find a route for your Ship and your Sled through the icy maze of islands which make up the Arctic archipelago. Because of the Artic winter, the sea can quickly become pack ice and passable by Sled... but impassable by Ship. Needless to say, you will need to manage well both vehicules to win the race.
But winning the race is not enough. Once you managed to cross the board to the Northwest Passage, you still have to get back with all your crew members before the end of the game, otherwise they will turn into ice cubes and that will get you some big penalties. In addition, there are many ways to gain points during the game by discovering various items and charting islands. The best expedition is not necessarily the fastest one!
Ready for the adventure? Well, be careful. Like in the real Artic ocean, a small error can be fatal. If you choose a wrong route, your Ship can be blocked by the ice, or your Sled can stay forever on a small island... Go north or go south? Deploy the Sled early in the game or later? Transfer all your crew in the Sled to run faster to the goal, or let some crew members in the ship in case you need it later? To win, you'll have to solve all these questions, and get back home safe - if you are clever enough
A big "thank you" to the whole Matagot team for giving us this opportunity to share with you this wonderful game!
Enjoy!
