Snorkeling

Game Overview
As snorkelers, you explore the colorful underworld of the ocean and swim among coral, turtles, and lanternfish. You try to stay underwater as long as possible while your fellow players do everything they can to drive you back to the surface. By skillfully playing cards onto the central pile or the piles of your opponents, you collect points and control your ascent.
Goal of the Game
The goal is to collect victory points by skillfully playing cards. The first player to reach 12 or more points wins the game.
Setup
- Each player receives one Lanternfish (value 5) and places it face up in front of them.
- All players receive 5 hand cards from the shuffled deck.
Gameplay
On your turn, you have two options:
1. Play Cards
To play one or more cards from your hand onto the central pile, you can:
- Play a higher card: Play a card with a value exactly 1 higher than the top card in the center. A Beach with value 0 follows a Ray with value 4.
OR
- Play cards of the same color: Play one or more cards of the identical color as the top card in the center.
Additionally (Opponent's pile):
If you have played cards in the center, you may then place exactly 1 card onto the pile of any opponent. This is only allowed if the value of your card is exactly 1 lower than the card currently on top of that pile (color does not matter).
2. Pass
No cards are played to the center.
End of Turn
- Draw 1 card from the deck into your hand.
- If you have played all your hand cards, you may take the top card of your own pile back into your hand.
- Exception: If this card is the Lanternfish (value 5), it remains in place and you draw an additional card from the deck instead.
- At the end of the turn, every player must have at least 2 cards for the next round.
End of Round & Scoring
A round ends immediately when a player receives a card with the value 0 (Beach) on their pile.
Scoring:
- Each player scores points equal to the value of the card currently on top of their personal pile.
- Points are added up over several rounds.
- The first player to reach 12 or more points wins the game. In the event of a tie, an additional round is played.
Expert Variant
In the Expert Diving variant, the following additional rules apply:
- Players may combine both placement rules and play any number of cards during their turn.
- Multiple cards may be played into the center one after another, provided each is exactly 1 value higher than the previous card.
